More about Google Friend Connect
Why are websites using Google Friend Connect?
There are well over 3,000,000 websites using Google Friend Connect.
The future of Social Media is in our hands. Websites using Google Friend Connect are the new social media networks. Logging in to multiple accounts on various networks will soon be a thing of the past.
Today, if you're using Google Friend connect you have the power to build a community around your website. This is especially good for those niche markets.
Google has a wide range of products and they're using Google Friend Connect to tie everything together. Think about it, you can go from surfing the web, to joining a google friend connect community, to making a new friend, to emailing them, then video chatting them ALL on Google products.
In the words of Simon U Ford,"Google Friend Connect is the subway system that links all the Social Networks toegether."
How to find Websites Using Google Friend Connect
The Google Search Engine: Just type"Websites Using Google Friend Connect" into the google search bar and you'll have plenty of sites to chose from. This is the least effective way.
Google Friend Connect Directories: The three main directories are Friend Connect Central, Friend Connect Directory, and Roaming Heads.
Roaming heads is my favorite becuase they have a very robust community of thought leaders and influencers on the team. This community is actually out scouring the internet to find the coolest GFC sites. This is what I call human powered search.
Joining the GFC community: This is by far the most effective way to find websites using Google Friend Connect. It's easy, go to ANY website with the GFC widget and "join." Once you're in, you can look around for friends, click on their heads and see where they've been.

Good explanation... I now have Google Friend Connect widget on our site at SocialMarketingWizards.com. Can you guess which platform we are using to promote social marketing? You guessed it - Eventslisted.com along with the master of social marketing, Simon Ford. I love this virtual landscape.
Great article Jonathan. It really explains the benefit of Google Friend Connect.
Very good Jonathan. Thanks for telling us wehre to go to find other sites uisng GFC.
Leaving the info on using it and setting it up was a bonus.
Rebecca
Excellent advice, Jonathan. It's great that we can find other websites using GFC by going through one of the directories you mentioned. Good point that Google Friend Connect is but one of Google's great tools for connecting to your friends and contacts. It's really changing how we interact, since we'll have all our contacts in one place and be able to chat, email, invite, etc. all through Google tools.
Best,
Jennifer
Jonathan, you did an awesome job with this Hubpage, in fact, it makes mine look sickly. Thank you for raising the bar!
Hey Johnathan,
Great article... I love the Special Report you have there. Clear instructions for starting up!
Hi Jonathan, thanks for this. It looks like you went through a good learning experience on this one, that we can all learn from! Let me pose the idiot question! Any suggestions on how to effectively share content and connect with our buddies on GFC??? Thanks. Anne
Hi Jonathan: Looks like you're busying making lemonade out of the situation HubPages put you through. It's a lovely thing to see -- an inspirational driver for the rest of us.
Now, regarding this article: To say "Excellent, Jonathan. Way to go." is accurate but it doesn't really say much. Your article deserves more than that.
I'm not sure comments are supposed to be evaluative or not, but here's my take:
1.) I like the flow of how you move from sub-topic to sub-topic crescendo-like, ending with the big Cymbal-bang of your Special Report.
2.) I LOVE your hierarchical expression of the different ways people can find websites using GFC. It's not only great information but it moves the reader through a smooth channel slide directly (as mentioned) into your Special Report. Wonderful set up.
3.) You even include a sense of urgency. Brilliant (as they say 'cross the pond)!
More important than ALL of what I've said above is this fact: NOW I know what to do with my own GFC connection! I've had it, but didn't have the knowledge needed to THINK in it -- I hadn't learned enough of its language until reading THIS hub. For this reason, I nominate it as a GFC "MUST READ."
Peace and Love and Thank You, Jonathan,
DeeJay
I found the roaming heads was alot of fun investigating, love this hub and the graphics used.
Very nicely done Jonathan...I am looking to learn a great deal more from you...inspiration at it's finest !!!
What a great refresher course on GFC and an example for me to follow in setting up a hub page. I like the suggestions re: eliminating the google ads. I'm sorry that you had to pay for it with a suspension.
Yes, you have definitely taken a bad situation with being "on probation" and turned it into a learning situation for all of us. You really made me realize more about the power of Google Friend Connect and how to really use it. Do you know if there are specifications to what websites we can install the GFC widget? I know we can install it on blogs- how about Squidoo? How about business websites? I'm opening my mind to the potential of GFC.
:~) Robin
Hey Jonathan,
Thanks for your insightful article on how to optimize the use of Google's "Friend Connect" website and blog connection social media widget.
I'll need to reread it so that I can begin the step-by-step Social Traffic, Inc.-EventsListed GFC optimization praxis.
Until then,Cheers
Hi Jonathon
After all the valuable information you shared, when I came to your 'special report' I fully anticipated being taken to a squeeze page before getting access. Let me say that based on what went before your special report, I would have been fully prepared to give up my email address in exchange for access to it. Now that I've seen the blueprint - especially the stratety - you laid out for GFC, I need to get to work. Thanks for sharing!
Best regards,
Duncan
Hey Jonathna
That looks familair. I liked it already when you showed me your work for the handbook, and this is just as nice. Congratulations. I have had a hub page since the first time going through the training. I don't get points on Simon's list for it, but I still think it is a great place to paste articles and increase the link juice
Jonathan this is a well thought-out article on why and how to use Google Friend Connect. Hey, this makes everyone with a web page want to use this tool.
I always appreciate your bright ideas and information. Thank you!
Linda
Jonathan, this is really good stuff. You present the material is an easy to read, easy to understand way. I learned much just by reading your post.
Well done
Thanks Jonathan.Great hub.Have refriended you
Off to work on my blog before all those roaming heads visit it
Great posting, thank you! I love how everything is becoming connected to help build stronger communities.
I love GFC! I just found out about it a week ago. I incorporated it into my site's article section because I wanted to let my readers leave comments. I tried other scripts but couldn't integrate them into my site. Only GFC worked! Now the site has a comment field without me having to program anything: http://www.cyrenorganics.com/index.php/skincare-ar
Those GFC communities look interesting.. I didn't even know they existed til now haha, gotta check them out
